Brand Focus – Too Faced Must Haves

It’s no secret to those who have been following my Instagram since the beginning that Too Faced Cosmetics is my all-time favourite brand. The packaging, the quality, the relatively affordable price tags – everything about it. I’ve tried many different products from the range and I’ve narrowed down my top picks from the permanent line.

Chocolate Bar Palette – $72aud Mecca Maxima.

The Too Faced Chocolate Bar was my first ever venture into high end makeup. I’d been sussing it out for so long, lusting over those beautiful neutral shades, and I managed to pluck up the courage and head into Mecca Maxima to purchase this beautiful palette. With sixteen shadows in a range of mattes and shimmers, there’s a beautiful selection for every look – from everyday neutral looks to darker, sultry eyes for nighttime. It’s still my most reached for palette and with the added bonus of a real chocolate scent, it’s not hard to understand why it’s a cult favourite.

Natural Mattes Palette – $52aud Mecca Maxima

Most palettes come with a array of mattes and shimmers, and too often I find that the mattes just don’t cut it in the quality department. So I decided that I needed an all mattes palette, in the hopes that having a single focus would produce high quality matte eyeshadows. And I was right to choose the Too Faced palette! With nine shadows ranging from a creamy white right through to the darkest chocolatey shades, there’s a great range of shades. It’s so easy to create a multitude of matte looks, or use the matte shades in the crease and throw on a shimmer shadow on the lid and you’ve got yourself a beautiful eye look. And with names like ‘Sexpresso’, ‘Risque’ and ‘Strapless’, combined with the food related names; ‘Honey Butter’ and ‘Chocolate Cookie’, you just know Too Faced had so much fun creating this palette.

HangoverX Primer – $48aud Mecca Maxima

All those with super dry skin, raise your hand – *raises hand*. I bought the Hangover Primer after hearing Kathleen Lights rave about it for so long. A primer that smells like coconuts and provides amazing moisturising benefits sounded like a dream come true for my dry, irritated skin. I originally bought it before winter hit Australia, and while i enjoyed it at the time, it wasn’t something I reached for on an almost daily basis, but now with my skin drier than ever and the wintery temperatures still wreaking havoc, I’ve completely fallen in love with this primer. It’s incredibly hydrating, and while it doesn’t necessarily prolong the wear of my makeup all that much, it creates a flawlessly smooth base for applying foundation. It’s also silicon free, and infused with Coconut water, helping skin retain moisture and prevent makeup from creasing and flaking off.

Cocoa Contour Kit Β – $59aud Mecca Maxima

Boy oh boy is this baby a holy grail product! The Too Faced Cocoa Contour Kit contains two sculpting shades in Medium Cocoa and Dark Cocoa, as well as a matte highlight shade in Light Cocoa and a shimmery highlight shade ‘Pop of Light’. The Medium Cocoa shade is the perfect contour shade for pale skin. It’s not too cool or warm toned, and blends out so easily to create a flawlessly lifted look. Dark Cocoa is more on the warm side, making it the perfect bronzing shade, or mixed with Medium Cocoa to warm up the contour a little. Light Cocoa is a light diffusing matte highlight shade, which i find perfect for setting the under eye area, or for a subtle cheek highlight. Unfortunately, Pop of Light is where the quality comes to a screeching halt. It’s chunky and glittery on the skin and doesn’t give a beautiful glow.

Melted Liquified Longerwear Lipstick – $31aud Mecca Maxima

The Melted Liquified Longerwear Lipsticks are literally just that – they’re a traditional lipstick in liquid form, not a typical matte liquid lipstick. The formula is incredibly hydrating and comfortable on the lips. It does transfer, is easily reapplied and buildable. I own four of the shades, two from the regular range; ‘Melted Peony’ a pale pink/nude, and ‘Melted Chihuahua’ a deeper mauve/nude shade. I’ve also picked up two from the Chocolate range; ‘Chocolate Milkshake’ is a typical pale nude/brown shade, and ‘Metallic Chocolate Diamonds’, which is a deeper chocolate shade with a slightly frosted metallic finish. My top pick is definitely ‘Melted Chihuahua’. It’s the perfect everyday colour, and so easy to reapply during the day. It’s always in my bag!

Better Than Sex Mascara – $34aud Mecca Maxima

I’d never really had a holy grail status mascara until I tried out a Deluxe sample size of the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. Offering up claims of 1000% more volume (is that even possible?!) and promising no clumping or flaking and guaranteed to hold a curl, it seemed too good to be true. But boy does it live up to the expectation. I have relatively normal lashes, not too short or thin, and rarely have problems with mascara. This mascara definitely gives me that promised volume, and holds a curl all damn day without flaking off and leaving those pesky black spots under the eyes. The wand is an hourglass shape, and unfortunately it is too large to properly apply product to the bottom lashes, but I can look past that, knowing how incredible it is for my top lashes.

Mr Right Perfect Powder Brush – $54aud Mecca Maxima

An honorable mention has to go to the Mr Right Perfect Powder Brush! The Too Faced brushes are made from Teddy Bear hair, making them not only incredibly soft, but also completely cruelty free! This particular brush, while not necessary, is an absolute winner for me. It was an impulse purchase that I’m so glad I made. With a tulip shape, it’s perfect for powdering the whole face, or being more precise with contour and bronzing. I also use it to apply blush and set under my eyes. It really is the perfect multi-tasking brush. And I just love the name and his cute little bowtie!

That’s my round up of my favourite Too Faced products! What are your go-to products from Too Faced? I’d like to add that I recently purchased the Born This Way Concealer, and I’m loving it so far, however I haven’t been using it long enough to form an overall opinion to be included in this post!

Thanks for reading!

Bronte xoxo
